Frequently Asked questions
Hello? Where are you? How do I come shop for feral creature art in person?
As of September 2023, we're co-owners of The Beautiful Idea, a book & gift store on the downtown mall in Charlottesville, Virginia. You can visit at 411 East Main St. Here's the web site for The Beautiful Idea so you can see the hours & more information! :)
You can also find us most Saturdays from 8-12 (in the summer) or 9-1 (in the winter) at the IX Farmers Market in Charlottesville, VA. We are the ones with the very subtle pride flags (usually in the area near Brazos Tacos). We also show up at various popups in the area. Come say hey!
What if I'm not in Charlottesville, VA?
So sad to not see your smiling face! Don't worry though! We ship directly to you, wherever you may be.
We're also working on getting our artwork in various shops in the area and beyond! If you know of a place where we should have our products, let us know!

How do you make your shirts?
For the first year and a half, all of our printed clothing/textiles were created the same way as our cards - by taking a carved block of linoleum or rubber, rolling ink onto it, and printing directly onto the fabric from the inked, carved surface.
We still make some items that way, but in December '22 decided to delve into the world of screen printed t-shirts to see if we couldn't make the process a bit more efficient (and gentler on our bodies). We take photographs of our prints, clean them up on the computer (as no print is ever 100% perfect and crisp), print them from the computer in larger proportions, and then burn those images onto silk screens ourselves, right in our home. We print all of our shirts ourselves.
What kind of t-shirts do you print on?
We only started bulk ordering clothing to print on in December '22, and are still learning what we like best, what prints best, and what our customers are most excited about. So far we're mostly working with Bella + Canvas brand items, as they often have 100% cotton options and a great range of colors and sizes available.
If you have a particular request for a style of shirt we haven't offered yet - whether it's a v-neck, tank top, or special type of sweatshirt - don't hesitate to reach out. We can often include your request in our next wholesale order and print on whatever color or style of shirt you're interested in.
What sizes do you offer?
Right now our adult t-shirts are available in XS - 4XL, with black shirts being available up to 5XL. Hoodies range in size from XS-4X depending on the brand and style.
Kid's shirts come in S-XL and we are also working on having toddler shirts and onesies very soon.
Accessibility is important to us, and we're learning as we go in this world of wholesale shirt orders. If you need a size we don't currently offer, please reach out. We're happy to try out different brands or styles of shirt that come in the sizes you want or need.
How do you make your cards?
Our hand printed greeting cards were all originally made through a process called block printing. We draw a design on paper with pencil, transfer it by rubbing onto a linoleum block or rubber carving medium, carve away the parts of the design we don't want inked - and then roll ink onto the carved block. Then it gets printed by hand onto paper!
Once a new design is finalized, we scan or photograph the print, clean it up on the computer, and send it to SmartPress in Minnesota to print them onto 100% recycled cardstock for us.
Are your items sustainable/recycled/organic?
Omg, thank you for asking! We're not perfect at this yet, but we're always taking steps toward more sustainable materials. Here's where we're at so far:
Paper Goods:
-All envelopes for our cards are 100% recycled
-All card and print sleeves are plant-based and compostable
-Our cards are commercially printed on 100% recycled cardstock
-Our postcards are 100% recycled
-New Post-It notes are partially recycled
-Our notebooks are recycled, too!
Clothing:
-Our tote bags are 100% organic cotton
-We try to focus on 100% cotton, or higher cotton content clothing, and purchasing from brands who use renewable energy and give back to their communities. We're still new to ordering clothing wholesale (and being able to afford that up front!), and will soon be looking into organic cotton shirt/hoodie options.

Packaging/Other:
-Our business cards are 100% cotton
-Our market bags are 90% recycled
-Shirt hang tags are 100% recycled
-The poly mailers we use to send out shirt orders are recycled, & feature multiple sealing strips so they can easily be re-used!
-Small card/sticker orders are mailed out in 100% recycled envelopes
What forms of payment do you take?
We accept many forms of payment automatically through the shop feature of this web site. You can also purchase in a variety of ways through Etsy. In person at the farmer's market in Charlottesville, VA we accept cash, Venmo, Apple Pay, Cashapp, and credit/debit cards via Square.
Shipping and Return Policies
